The San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy was created by the California legislature in 1999. We're one of nine conservancies within the California Resources Agency. Our mission is to preserve open space and habitat in order to provide for low-impact recreation and educational uses, wildlife habitat restoration and protection, and watershed improvements within our jurisdiction.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - The Los Angeles District encompasses 226,000 square miles in four states, protects 420 miles of Southern California shoreline from Morro Bay to the Mexican border support nine military bases Established in 1898, the district has been recognized for providing engineering services for the southwest for more than 100 years.
The Department provides the residents and visitors of Los Angeles County with Quality recreational opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen the community through diverse physical, educational and cultural programming. And enhances the community environment by acquiring, developing, and maintaining County Parks, gardens, golf courses, trails, and open space areas.
Pico Rivera is a thriving community that offers opportunities to all who live and work in the City. Incorporated in 1958 by residents of two historic old communities, Pico and Rivera, the once agricultural area is home to a balanced mix of homes, businesses and recreation facilities.
The Watershed Conservation Authority (WCA) was created April 17, 2003. It is a joint powers entity of the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RMC) and the Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD). The Los Angeles County Supervisors serve as the board of the LACFCD which is administered by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW).
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works was formed on January 1, 1985, consolidating the former County Road Department, a portion of the County Engineer-Facilities, and the County Flood Control District. In 1995, Public Works assumed the responsibility for capital projects from the County Internal Services Department. The department works towards Enhancing our communities through responsive and effective public works services.
