Lakes Area

Area D- 214 Acres

This area is south of the Pomona Freeway and east of Rosemead Blvd. It is 214 acres, and contains three lakes (Legg Lake, Center Lake, and North Lake) with 77 acres of surface water. Facilities in this area provide for picnicking, including a group picnic area, fishing, boating and bicycling activities. The level of the lakes is maintained by pumping water from existing wells. The California Department of Fish and Game stocks the existing lakes with trout, bass and catfish. In the southeast corner is a U.S Army Corps of Engineers facility, with the Texaco Company Montebello Laboratory to the west. An agricultural area located south of Legg Lake and west of the Southern CA Edison Company easement currently contains a nursery area and strawberry fields.
